Tolkien could keep his systems under control because he alone was doing the writing. Whereas the "Terminator" franchise, after James Cameron made the first two, was made by different people working under different forms of pressure, and they wouldn't have necessarily connected with each other to compare notes during the writing and filming.
I’m always amazed by that. I agree that the different people working on the various movies don’t talk, and assuming that’s true, I don’t understand why they wouldn’t. I think comparing notes would save these guys a lot of trouble.
