There's a famous story about Davy Crockett. He was campaigning on one of his terms and he asked a farmer if he'd vote for him. And the farmer said, no, because you gave us this money for this disaster. And he was like, well, I gave you money. I was trying to help.

And of course, farmer was like, no, it wasn't your responsibility to do that. I'm paraphrasing that story, obviously. But the point is, you know, it might not just be a pull-yourselves-up-by-your-bootstrap thing. It might be that the reason they were so opposed to government help is because it could be weaponized.

And that's why they wanted to emphasize private, you know, private charity or philanthropy. Just food for thought, because we're definitely seeing it being weaponized right now.
